ISLAMABAD: The Foreign Office (FO) on Wednesday summoned Indian Deputy High Commissioner JP Singh to lodge a protest against yet another ceasefire violation along the Line of Control (LoC) a day earlier in which a Pakistani labourer was killed. Ashfaq, 25, was killed during an exchange of fire across the LoC in the Khoi Ratta sector on Tuesday. FO Director General (South Asia and SAARC) Dr Muhammad Faisal lodged the protest with Singh and deplored the deliberate targeting of civilians, which is a crime as well as violation of international human rights and humanitarian laws. He urged the Indian side to respect the 2003 ceasefire understanding, investigate this and other incidents of ceasefire violations and instruct the Indian forces to respect the ceasefire in letter and spirit. He also urged the Indian troops to stop targeting villages and civilians, besides maintaining peace along the LoC.
